in 1964, Don Diego Cigars moved to the Dominican republic after 1982 from the
Canary Islands.
The Dominican Republic is one of the world's largest producers of handcrafted
cigars. The ideal growing environment, Santiago and Cibao Valley regions produce
the majority of Dominican Republic cigars. Dominican varieties have outstanding
quality and a wide selection of flavor, aroma and colors.
What is the difference between hand rolled and machine made cigars?
Handmade Cigars - The entire cigar is completely
made by hand from start to finish. The cigar is bunched, rolled and trimmed by individuals.
The work can be split between a buncher and a roller working on the same cigar,
or it may be one person working alone. Premium cigars are handmade cigars.
Machine-made Cigars - The filler, binder and wrapper are all assembled by machine. These are quality cigars with good flavor and aroma. The price can be a lot less, unlike handmade cigars.
Machine Bunched/Hand Rolled Cigars - These are priced accordingly and the best of both worlds. The filler is bunched by machine and then is turned over to a cigar roller, who wraps it by hand. The technique is often referred to as machine bunched.
